Open call for artists: project "New ideas for the city". Water in the city

The exhibition project "New ideas for the city" has been held in the museum since 2007. The main idea was for contemporary artists to offer their ideas for improving and harmonizing the urban environment.

The exhibition has become a tradition of the museum, and this time it will be the ninth.

The theme for 2020 is water, especially since St. Petersburg is famous for its high quality drinking water in Russia.

We suggest taking a look at "water in the city" from different angles.

aquarium, flood, Northern Venice, bridges, river and canal tours, the way "from the Varangians to the Greeks", the naval capital, ideas for engineering solutions for the preparation and delivery of water (hatches, drinking fountains, aqueducts), sculpture/art object by the water, sea facade, St. Petersburg drinks, quays, Atlantis, living/dead water, shipping transport, river streetcar, land reclamation, mythology in the architecture of St. Petersburg (Poseidon, newtons, nymphs), underwater archaeology of St. Petersburg and Baltic rivers, water clocks, fountains, ecology (reasonable use of water, household chemicals, preservation of balance and purity of water bodies)

Location: New exhibition hall of the State Museum of Urban Sculpture
The museum's inner open courtyard can also be regarded as an exposition site.

Address: Nevsky Prospekt, ul. 179 (2 Chernoretsky Lane).

Application deadline: till October 1, 2020.

Exposition working time: from December 28, 2020 to May 2021. May be extended until the autumn of 2021.

Technique and materials:

Works are accepted in categories:

1. "Real" works: sculpture, object, painting, graphics, video art (mini-cinema is provided).
2. Projects in digital/online format.
3) Educational projects (master classes, workshops, lectures, excursions, etc.).
Be sure to attach the concept, description of the proposed project in accordance with the exhibition theme.

Criterion of selection:

Availability of an idea (engineering or fantastic) for the city.

Exhibits will be selected taking into account general exposition solutions.

The working group will not review the concepts sent for consideration.

To e-mail new.arthall@gmgs.ru by October 1, 2020. Subject of the letter: "New ideas for the city". In the letter: photos, sketch and description of the work offered for the exhibition, as well as a brief portfolio of the author and contact details.
