OPEN-CALL II BIENNALE! WORLD WITHOUT TRADE!
And now we are announcing an open-call for artists, researchers, activists and all interested persons to participate in the II Biennale! World Without Work, which will be held in St. Petersburg on December 1-6, 2020.
The theme of this year's Biennale will be Unconditional Basic Income.
Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) - "periodic cash payment provided to everyone on an unconditional and individual basis, without verification of need or employment requirements" (definition of the Seoul Congress of the World Network of Basic Income 2016).
The concept of Basic Income, first appeared in the philosophical discourse in the XVI century as a utopian idea and actually remained so for several centuries, has received new development since 70-80 years. In the twentieth century, when the world began to conduct the first experiments on its practical implementation.
The idea of OBD became particularly relevant in 2020 in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, which exacerbated and exposed the contradictions of late capitalism neoliberalism, putting many people on the verge of survival.
Creativity instead of Survival!
Creativity and Unconditional Basic Income break with all forms of survival.
We propose to focus on the practices of the present, so as not to get stuck in the future. Attention to them is as important as the OBD's political demand, as they invent a new approach to social. Here are some of these practices/approaches:
- love and recycling/recycling, upsizing/waste laboratory for artists and activists
- The phenomenon of excessive wealth is crazy/expensive poverty.
- different forms of shoring: foodsharing, etc.
- practice to date
- 3D printing
- border crossing/cancellation of personal and state borders
- social hacking
- magic work/self-assembly
- Theoretical/practical block "creative approach to reproductive work"
From objects to laboratories, from tests to culinary dishes - there are no format restrictions.
A significant part of the program at the II Biennale! World Without Work! It will be given to street events.
