MUMEDI, Mexican Design Museum, represented by the MUMEDI Foundation, invites designers, students, teachers, professionals and everyone who wants to participate in the international poster competition "To death with a smile" (2019-2020), designed to promote the development of quality design.

The competition is aimed at developing creative and design abilities. The idea is to consider the diversity and richness of styles of different cultures around the world, which will give all participants the freedom to express their own style.

Rules and procedures for participation:

GENERAL PROVISIONS

PARTICIPANTS: Professionals, amateurs and anyone over 18 years of age, regardless of their nationality.

The theme of the contest is "death". It can be your personal perception of death or its meaning in your culture, the way we fear, celebrate or accept it. The work can be either serious or humorous.

Technique of execution: free, but ultimately your work must be presented in electronic format.

SIZE: 60 cm x 90 cm, vertical.

FORMAT: .JPG digital format with 300 dpi resolution in RGB color model.

The participant may submit up to three works, each of which must be sent separately.

REGISTERATION:

It is necessary to fill in and sign:

- Registration form in PDF format (download from the contest website)

- Permission to reproduce and commercialize the work (in PDF format, on the contest website)

Also attach a copy of the author's identity card.

HOW TO APPLY?

Works are submitted digitally via WeTransfer.com at concursos@mumedi.org

Digital poster file
Size: 60 x 90 cm

Colors: RGB

Format: .JPG

Resolution: minimum of 300 dpi (350 dpi if the work contains many details that should be reflected in the print)

File weight: should not exceed 25 MB in already compressed .jpg format

File name: author's name.jpg (in Latin)

Example: perez_jose.jpg, perez_jose2.jpg (if the author sends more than one work)

EACH PARTICIPANT CAN SEND UP TO THREE OF HIS OR HER WORKS, BUT THE APPLICATION FOR EACH WORK MUST BE SUBMITTED SEPARATELY, AND EACH APPLICATION MUST CONTAIN ITS OWN SET OF DOCUMENTS.

Audience Award:

During the first month of the exhibition, all visitors will be able to vote for the poster they like, and the winner of the vote will receive a special printed certificate, as well:

THE RULES OF PARTICIPATION:

All posters, without exception, must be presented in accordance with the requirements:

    Dimensions: 60 x 90 centimeters (vertical format).
    Anyone can participate, from anywhere in the world, but only if he/she is 18 years old.
    You can participate as a single person or as a group, up to a maximum of three people. In case of formation of a group you should choose its representative.
    The work can be done in any convenient and desired style; the final electronic format is the .JPG file.
    Each participant or group of participants can execute up to three projects, each of which must be sent a separate letter with all the necessary documents.

The process of selection of works:

Once the organisers have received your electronic project files, the works can be printed on any material they wish.

All the selected designs will be uploaded to the web-application, in which the jury from different corners of the world will be able to choose their favorite works.

Selection criteria:

The jury will take into account that the projects have already been selected according to the general rules of participation in the competition, but the main role will be played by the level of creativity, aesthetics, originality and innovation of the works. Ideas and unspoken messages will also be evaluated according to the jury's own criteria and tastes.

Exhibition of selected works:

The final exhibition, which includes from three hundred to five hundred works, will be held at the Mexican Design Museum - "MUMEDI" in November 2019 and at the Historic Center of Mexico until January 2020.

Catalogue of exhibited works

With the help of electronic publications and the creation of an electronic catalogue of exhibited works, the organizers will try to leave an example of these competitive works for the next generations.

Awards and acknowledgements

A jury chaired by members of the Council of the Mexican Design Museum will select the authors who deserve to be awarded. The award ceremony will take place on November 21, 2019, Thursday, at eight o'clock in the evening. In the absence of a participant or representative of the group, a copy of the certificate of appreciation or diploma will be given to the designated MUMEDI staff member and delivered to the author later.

Commercial implementation of projects

Monthly "MUMEDI" visits a huge number of people, each of whom is a potential buyer. For this reason, you are given the opportunity to put up a project for sale in the shop of the Museum.

Comment of the organizers: We will carefully monitor the level of sales, each author will be able to consult with us personally, using a mobile phone and e-mail.

If you are NOT interested in making posters for commercial implementation, please indicate it in the registration list. Refusal from commercial realization will not affect your participation in the contest in any way.
