Exhibition Launch Lisa Chuhlantseva in ISSMAG Gallery

From February 22 to March 11 in ISSMAG Gallery will host a solo exhibition of Lisa Chuhlantseva “You like me when I was younger, only better”

the focus of the artist – visual context teenagers and kidalov, who grew up in the 1990-ies and 2000-ies, learned shared social and cultural norms and share similar conditions of growing up and experiencing similar problems with communication, — a generation called artist "angels anonymous”.

“Angels anonymous” Chuhlantseva — seeking itself, and procrastinatus in the world of social networks and visual blogs-aggregators teenagers who prefer the gray reality of the comfort of personalized world instagram-subscriptions and public Vkontakte, and contradictory and confusing modernity — the faux-nostalgia for the 1980s and 1990. Turning to the period that they hardly remember, they are trying to turn back the clock, to overcome the irreversibility of its course, to transform historical time into myth, to regain the carelessness “childhood, which they never had” or which is irrevocably gone. Warnings from the political activist and an Internet activist Eli Pariser about “a bubble filter” — on the negative side personalized search when sites determine what information the user would like to see, based on personal data — “angels anonymous” answer creating their own “bubble” escapist practices in the network. Designed visual filters allow reality into the world of teenagers only pleasant images and information. In response to the statement of the former head of Google, Eric Schmidt: “People will be very difficult to see or to buy something that somehow wasn't under them is chosen”, they just smirked and put on their rose-colored glasses designer online identities and are closed in the middle range of others such as fashionable custom profiles, preferring a real world picture of his personalized interpretation, love and friendship — “neo-friendship" of followers and subscribers.

Like a modern artist rose and Randal Amalia Ulman, creating staged photography, imitating the visual language of social networks, Chuhlantseva reproduces the mechanisms of constructing identity in social networks in a moment of maturation and self-determination with laptops and smartphones in the hands of with whom adolescents associate sometimes more intimate than with their peers. Expression and communication in social networks will inevitably turn into (thanks to the very nature of these networks) a conscious or unconscious tool for the formation of audience of people who share similar aesthetics, the jargon of philosophy.

In one of his public Vkontakte “Winter solstice" Chuhlantseva puts a picture with the comment of his sister: “It is I, my older sisters, Lisa and Faith in the country in Talashkino. The happiest summer days were there. We invented and did everything that I wanted: clips to music discs "Hits 00 disco" photo shoot in funny outfits and different theatrical performances relatives or neighbours at the cottage. Don't know, I too well remember everything, to write memories, because it was recently, and bezumnie we still have”. Light colored nostalgia, peculiar characters Chukhlantseva, — not “longing”, even metaphysical, which doesn't exist anymore or maybe never was, but a literal “longing for the country”, an image which becomes for the artist the epitome of memories of carefree summer holidays spent at grandma away from home, a symbol of unlimited freedom and unconscious games with the world. In the dialectic of the normalized free time that defines a special state that is separated from the pervasive employment, the country becomes a state in which we take everything that has no place in our normal, urban, adult, beaten to the refusal of life, but so dear to the heart and throw does not. Longing also turns into a truly the epitome of happy memories from my childhood, way back is the children's mood in the present.

the texture of the garden and the aesthetics of camp at the exhibition in the gallery ISSMAG become not only a way to trigger the mechanisms of memory, but the embodiment hypoesthesia modern Internet blurs the boundaries between personal and public, virtual and real, the mundane and the fantastic, named and anonymous. In the method of construction of the exhibition, the artist borrows the logic of doing public Vkontakte, inviting in the framework of the public program (discussions, lectures and film screenings) of their friends and followers from social networks, and as a second part of the project in the gallery ISSMAG will create an online exhibit (continued exhibition “You like me when I was younger, only better” opens Vkontakte February 28, the last day of winter).

“In the text can mention: "No Wake — the world will burn you!" Sleeping butterflies circling in the night and not see their devouring flame, — sending me Lisa on Facebook a slightly modified quote from the review to the film guy Debord “We circled in the night and we devoured the flame” and apply a picture of your dress with lined sequin flame, — it All started with my outfit on Autlayn, which I just did... I have seen enough of guy Debord) while on the contrary, WAKE up...although ... I don't know... I like when dream how to dream, then to Wake up not necessary”.
