The participants of the project START ABLOY Bogdan and Elena Martynenko in group exhibitions Opvs Modernvm

Group exhibition Opvs modernvm – the result of the interaction of academic traditions with new formats, artistic experiment, initiated by the Moscow academic art school of memory of 1905 and the Center for contemporary art WINERY.

Reviving the tradition of scholarship trips to Italy, which appeared in the 19th century in the Imperial Academy of arts, MACH provided an opportunity for the best students and artists START to go to Tuscany for a summer internship. Here were born, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Dante Alighieri. For many centuries this region was a center of attraction for artists from around the world. Here, armed with cameras, the young artists went in search of the ideal beauty found in classical antiquity and re-discovered in the Renaissance. The result is a ten-day practices, the students received experience with contemporary artists and new media, has created a modern artwork which are not inconsistent with, and engage in dialogue with the academic tradition.

In the role of masters was made by the artist, the curator of the project START, a lecturer in the school of Rodchenko and the British Higher school of design Kirill Preobrazhensky, artist, photographer, lecturer at British higher school of design Mikhail Rozanov, as well as producer and Director, founder of theatre “Practice”, “Library” festival "Golden mask” Eduard Boyakov.

the Exhibition is a collective diary, the role of words in which the given visual images. Every day Italian journey documented in photographs and video. Selected at the end of the trip the material is in the exhibition, built in the tradition of the classic Roman Basilica. In the apse – the film created by the participants with the method of the commedia dell'arte all'improviso. Characters of the Comedy of masks by young artists improvise in given locations and circumstances, which vary according to the authors. With a new look, ancient images find their place in the context of the history of modern art. The exhibition presents photographs, sketches and video.
