Curator of the Philosophical club of the Winery Anastasia Shavlohova:

“the Third cycle of the Philosophical club of the Winery we have dedicated completely to the questions of contemporary aesthetics. First of all, I and my co-curator Andrew Schoenthal, we realized the situation in Russia is that during the time of Soviet History and of dogmatic Marxism-Leninism in academic terms, we are far behind in matters of aesthetics. In fact, in Russia practically do not teach the aesthetics as discipline. It a little affect in the realm of philosophy or of art. In the framework of the philosophy club we were able to create a comprehensive programme that includes a variety of topics, from post-Internet aesthetics to cyberfeminism, from de-colonial turn to the aesthetics of the space. Now in Russia the Philosophical club of the Winery is a unique platform where consistently understand the most important currents of modern culture, we gather the most relevant speakers from around the world, always emphasizing the democratic project. There is a perception that philosophy is something very secret understanding only. It is this stereotype we want to break within the framework of the philosophy club, translating academic knowledge into language modern culture”.

Andrew Schoenthal:

“Statement of Graham Harman's "a New approach to the formalism in ethics, aesthetics, and metaphysics” – Central lecture of our course. He is saying that the aesthetics of today defines the entire philosophy. Modern man, he believes, opens the sensory measurement at the moment of application objects: “all things are of infinite depth, and all things break to enjoy along the smallest facades in the world”. In the first lecture given in Moscow, the founder of object-oriented ontology will talk about his latest book “Broken hammer Dante”, where he will defend formalism in the broad sense of the word. The choice of this topic is not accidental — Russia has its own strong formalist tradition. Speculative realism can be treated in different ways, including critical (personally, I lean toward the latter), but the performances of Harman — is primarily artistic and philosophical performance that you want to see live, especially because of his charisma and energy he is not inferior to other stars philosophy”
