Lecture by Yoel Regev will be held on 30 may at 19.30 in the Vintage hall of WINZAVOD centre for contemporary art

Modern philosophical movements associated with realism and materialism, can be described using the famous motto of Edmund Husserl " back to the things themselves!”. So one of the representatives of “object-oriented ontology” Tim Morton writes that “aesthetic events are not limited to the interaction between people or between people and picturesque canvases. These occur when a saw bites into a fresh piece of wood. They happen when a worm crawls out of damp earth”. Thus Morton understands the aesthetic dimension as a casual relationship, then there is a causal relationship between objects, and not as a relation of the subject to the sensually perceived world that characterized classical European philosophy. This secret and unknown to human consciousness connection of things he calls the “magic objects”.

In his lecture "Art and conflict" philosopher Yoel Regev opposes “anarchism in art” Morton his idea of art as “contact contact”. Art, in his opinion, cannot be described solely as hitting the target (in the sense of conformity to the real situation depicted), but is himself the pure act of hitting, “getting for yourself», and talked about what Kant in "Critique of judgment". ““Exact”, which is the essence of works of art, — writes Regev, — is always “communiques from the battlefield": getting into “the main conflict” — which, being inside a situation, we can always know only that he is “about that” and the essence of which is made available to cognition through ongoing work of art "to restore the sharpness””. But romantic art, which can be attributed to modern artistic practice, makes a diagnosis of reality and stop halfway. About what is revolutionary art today and what are its aesthetic principles, the lecturer will discuss with moderator Boris Klushnikova.
