Artist Ilya Grishaev is engaged in a very distinctive plastic searches. He deeply analyzes the visual language of the reality around him and creates characters as prints of forms or counter forms. They are born, as a kind of «traces» in space. In most cases the configurations dependent on the external form of " environment " in which they are formed. It can be both spatial conditions and the conditions of the relationship between plastic forms themselves. Sometimes these symbols themselves form the conditions of its appearance, thus closing the method of forming a kind of paradoxical ring.
Young artist develops this method for several years and he passed a series of evolutionary stages. It all started with figurative images, which are present in the existing set of characters, such as letters or numbers. At some stage, there began to appear, as they are called by the artist himself, " unformed emotional spots ." Then disappeared first figurative images, and behind them, and we know the characters. Only those most " emotional spots ", which is not very stable, their form is not final, as if they are in the process of becoming.
The creation of these plastic " traces", is an attempt to develop their own language of symbols. We seem to be caught in the transformation of forms to sign. Two identical sign may differ " handwriting " is it different plastic forms, but the same sign.
