The Man has always tried to build a system of primary structures. In the twentieth century with the loss of spiritual coordinates these practices began to take on an artistic form. Today we most often have to accept the proposed formats of interaction with the world. Or to build your own patterns based on a personal mythology.
The Objects of Eugene Antufiev are a kind of protection, a cocoon which separates the artist from a «scary world» and they are also a spell, a mandala, sending signals into space. «It seems that if everything is added up correctly, then something will happen. That is like signals and then all will go well in the life and in general, you have only to collect and organize in a right way».

Evgeny Antufiev was born in Tuva. The airtight space, surrounded by mountains, runs in the mythology of the artist the role of a perfect home in which the person is sleeping in the dark like an embryo«. The objects collected in real Tuva (flowers, bones, insects, tissue) and particle’s of the own body and the bodies of relatives (hair, blood, nails, gold teeth of Granny) — the umbilical cord, leading to Tuva, a domestic ideal world without fears. So the area becomes an integral part of your own body.

Another important element of the artist’s mythology, his perfect material is fabric. The fabric has been a metaphor of the space material since ancient times. The knotted letter, the ceremonial embroidery, the ornament, through which is passed the familiar memory, the protection of ancestors. The fabric is the main material for the artist. Dolls-objects — the main characters, they are conductors and guards on the way to the inner world.

The «Objects of protection» is a story partly about the lost connection between the man and the myth and partly about the possibility of their interconnection today.
